Our foundation of hard work and hospitality runs deep in our roots. Metropolis Resort founders, Tom and Shirley Hahn grew up on farms in Iowa where they learned the value of family and hard work. In the beginning, Tom’s parents sold their farm and opened a grocery store, Hahn’s Circle Foods, in a small town, Grand Mound, IA.
In the early years, Tom bagged groceries and learned the importance of customer service and hospitality from his parents. He married the love of his life, Shirley, in 19xyz. Tom was known for his meat counter and Shirley ran the books. They had two children, Brian and Kim, both raised in their parents’ business. They started bagging groceries and worked their way up into the business, just like their parents. Together these four Hahn’s worked hand in hand for years. They have many stories to tell, all of which end with laughter and fond memories of the people they have met over the years.
The Hahn’s went on many business adventures together. If you could sit and listen to them talk, you would hear stories of many grocery stores, an ice cream parlor, a motel, a laundromat, several Dairy Queens, a marketing firm, real estate and the joys of being landlords.
One of the great adventures started after Tom and Shirley retired. In 2005 they created Action City with another partner. After quick success they added on a Hotel and Waterpark. Now we have the Metropolis Resort, that boasts “Where the Fun Never Stops.”
The Hahn’s have a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome wherever they go. They are known for their hospitality professionally and personally. The legacy that they leave behind is fun. It’s established everywhere they have a presence. A culture of fun is known in each of their businesses. Through it all, you will always hear about how they wouldn’t be where they are today without their customers, family and the team that makes it happen.

Action City Play Passes are a great way to get the most out of everything Action City has to offer. All of the blue card swipers in the arcade are free to use with Play Passes, so take a look around to see what’s included, and try them all if you’re up for a challenge! The racing games and skee ball lanes are some of our favorites!
Flash Pads
The Flash Pads are a unique gaming experience made up of 100 individual square tiles. With 8 different games to try, there's more than enough fun for everyone. Carefully follow a treacherous path to steal some treasure in Temple Escape, dodge all the incoming slithering snakes to survive the Snake Pit, or find and collect all the gems in Ruby Rush. Try all 8 game modes and discover your new favorite!
Go Karts
One our our guests’ all-time favorite attractions is the indoor go kart track. Get behind the wheel of one of these electric karts and speed around the track to compete for the fastest lap time! Two-seaters are available for those who aren’t quite tall enough to drive yet.*
Bumper Cars
Buckle up and get ready to bump! Action City’s bumper cars are a blast! Spin out, chase, and bump your friends and family on this classic attraction.*
Laser Tag
Suit up and take down the competition in Action City’s Laser Tag Arena! Team up, go solo, or ask about one of our many other game modes to try.
Laser Maze
Embrace the secret agent within you in Action City’s Laser Maze, where you’ll avoid and dodge the green lasers filling this smoke-covered room. Try the beam-breaker mode for an all-new way to play!
Mini Bowling
Enjoy a classic game of bowling on a smaller scale! Action City’s mini bowling is four small lanes of big fun.
Jump & Play Passes
If you go for the Jump & Play Pass, you’ll get all that PLUS everything the trampoline park has to offer! From dodgeball to ninja warrior courses, there’s more than enough fun to keep you entertained (or tire out the kiddos)! For a limited time, purchasing a 5-hour Jump & Play Pass also includes an additional $20 on your play card that you can use towards ticket and prize games in the arcade!
